WWE Should Use Many Divas As Valets
For the past six months, the WWE divas division has been dominated by A.J. Lee, Paige, Nikki Bella and Brie Bella. For better or worse, it’s evident WWE programming will only feature two divas’ storylines at a given time.
As a result, the majority of the divas’ roster has been underutilized or completely absent from television altogether. In order to rectify this, WWE should utilize many of the divas in roles as valets.
Currently, Lana might be the most recognizable and impactful diva on the entire roster. She serves as the mouthpiece of the rising star, Rusev, and accompanies him to the ring during his bouts. She has thrived in this capacity, and is consistently featured on television as a result.
Conversely, divas like Summer Rae, Eva Marie, Rosa Mendez and Natalya barely appear on WWE programming. The company has a lot invested in these women as many of them headline the reality show Total Divas. Featuring some of them as valets could not only help strengthen their roles with the company, but could also help boost floundering WWE superstars who need a spark.
Summer Rae was introduced in the WWE as the dance partner of Fandango. The duo enjoyed moderate success together, but ultimately went separate ways. Since their split, though, both Summer Rae and Fandango have taken a step back. It’s hard to argue that both would be in a better position had they remained together.
Over the past several months, Natalya and Tyson Kidd have engaged in a compelling storyline in NXT, but the tandem has been sparingly used on the main roster. Pairing them together in the WWE would allow two very talented individuals to both receive a well-deserved opportunity to shine.
Additionally, using divas as valets would serve to help mask the in-ring deficiencies of some of the women, such as Rosa Mendez, Eva Marie and Cameron. Instead of exposing their shortcomings by having them struggle in the ring, these divas could display some of their strengths outside of the squared circle, with their verbal or acting abilities.
With several more divas ready to make the jump from NXT to the main roster, the WWE will need to find creative ways to feature more of these females on a consistent basis. Pairing up many of them with superstars could prove extremely beneficial to both individuals, and give a boost to the overall quality of WWE programming.
