WWE Survivor Series Needs NXT Match

Sami Zayn Adrian Neville

Survivor Series is less than a week away, and thus far, the card only features four matches. Of those four, just two are really intriguing bouts with significant build-up. As a result, the WWE creative team should add a traditional elimination match comprised of NXT superstars.

This move would serve multiple purposes. First and foremost, it would add some in-ring substance to what is otherwise an underwhelming collection of matches. Since the inception of the WWE Network, NXT has provided many of the very best in-ring contests in the entire company. Putting several of NXT’s top stars in the ring together would likely produce some of the best action of the night.

The other benefit of this match would be to provide great exposure to the NXT brand and help promote its December pay-per-view style event. Many fans who have never seen an episode of NXT will be watching Survivor Series and certainly would have their eyes opened by the WWE’s developmental territory.

As an example, one team could feature NXT Champion Adrian Neville, Sami Zayn, NXT Tag Team Champions Lucha Dragons and Baron Corbin. The other side could include Tyler Breeze, Tyson Kidd, The Vaudevillains and Bull Dempsey. These pairings could showcase the diversity of the talent in NXT, as it would include top singles stars, a pair of elite tag teams and two rising heavyweights.

With Neville and Zayn seemingly on a collision course for the NXT Championship rematch, the teammates could experience some dissension at Survivor Series, adding intrigue to their pending bout. Also, the tag teams could add fuel to their future championship match with interaction in this match.

WWE needs to recognize the growing population of NXT, while also rewarding some of the top stars with an opportunity on WWE programming. Survivor Series provides a perfect opportunity for NXT to finally get mainstream recognition. For WWE, the future in NXT should be now.
