10 Best WWE PPV Events In History By Nicholas A. Marsico PREV NEXT 10 Best WWE PPV Events In History WWE Universe Facebook There are a lot of great matches, but a truly great event features a mixture of hard-fought battles with multiple styles and a great live audience. These are the 10 best. 10. SummerSlam 1998 Billed "The Highway to Hell," the 1998 iteration of the summer supershow featured Stone Cold vs. The Undertaker, a great ladder match between The Rock and Triple H, Owen Hart and Ken Shamrock in the Lion's Den and Jeff Jarrett vs. X-Pac. 9. SummerSlam 2001 The second of three SummerSlams on this list, the 2001 version featured the WWF vs. The Alliance in (almost) every match. Edge had a great match with Lance Storm and Jeff Hardy, and RVD tore it up in a ladder match. Kurt Angle vs. Steve Austin is one of the best matches ever. 8. WrestleMania X The 10th WrestleMania was held in NYC, just like the first. Bret Hart got to open and close the show with first wrestling brother Owen and then beat Yokozuna for the WWF Title. This show also featured the classic Shawn Michaels/Razor Ramon ladder match. 7. No Way Out 2001 The last stop on the road to WrestleMania, this show featured a stacked card. Chris Jericho defended the IC Title in a fast-paced fatal four-way against Benoit, Guerrero and X-Pac. Stephanie McMahon and Trish Stratus had a match that was unexpectedly great, Triple H and Steve Austin killed each other in a 2/3 Falls match and The Rock won the WWF Title from Kurt Angle. 6. Royal Rumble 2000 The Hardys and Dudleys began to make a name for themselves in a spectacular tag team tables match, Tazz made his thrilling debut and handed Kurt Angle his first loss and Mick Foley completed stage one of making Triple H a star in an amazing Street Fight. 5. WrestleMania XXX It was the night of Daniel Bryan. He and Triple H opened the show with a great match, a fun battle royal that looked to make Cesaro a star, the end of Undertaker's streak at the hands of Brock Lesnar and the culmination of Daniel Bryan's journey to the WWE Title. 4. WrestleMania XX This five-hour marathon is considered by some as the best of all time. Eddie Guerrero and Kurt Angle had a great title match, The Rock and Mick Foley had great fun in a match against Evolution, Brock Lesnar and Goldberg had a match worth watching for the crowd alone and Triple H vs. Chris Benoit vs. Shawn Michaels is one of the best matches of all time. 3. IYH: Canadian Stampede This is one of the most highly regarded shows in WWF history. It was a huge show for the WWF's Canadian fans with a main event featuring the beloved Hart Foundation in a 10-man tag team match. Japan's Great Sasuke came in to wrestle Taka Michinoku in a great light-heavyweight match and Triple H and Mankind wrestled to a hard-fought double count-out. 2. SummerSlam 2002 The best SummerSlam PPV of all time, it was a stacked card from top to bottom with Kurt Angle vs. Rey Mysterio to open the show, Edge vs. Eddie Guerrero as Edge continued to grow as a great performer and a really good Benoit vs. RVD match for the IC Title. Shawn Michaels made his miraculous return against Triple H and Brock Lesnar beat the Rock to win the WWE Title and complete his meteoric rise. 1. WrestleMania x7 WresteMania x7 is still the greatest pay-per-view of all time and it's going to be very hard to beat. A ridiculous Hardcore Title three-way, Benoit vs. Angle in a near classic and the TLC match that defined the era of high spot tag team matches. Triple H wrestled the Undertaker in their first WrestleMania match (with a narcoleptic referee) and The Rock battled Steve Austin in one of the best main events ever; and then aligned himself with Mr. McMahon.
