The promoter of Revolution Pro Wrestling announced over the weekend on Twitter that he decided to make it happen: Will Ospreay, whose match with Ricochet from New Japan Pro Wrestling’s recent Best of the Super Juniors tournament caused quite a stir within the wrestling community, will step into the ring and go one-on-one with Vader inside York Hall.

It’s a sign of ingenious booking that Andy Quildan, promoter and booker for RPW, decided to jump into the fire and get in touch with Vader to put arguably his biggest homegrown star up against a legend. Two different philosophies will clash as two men from very different generations with very different styles will be paired up. The match itself may be hit or miss; Vader is in much better shape than he was when he fell, Botchamania style, getting out of the ring a number of years ago after appearing on an episode of WWE RAW, but he’s also 38 years older than the rising star.

Vader became a gigantic sensation in Japan, and Ospreay has the same opportunity. He won the BOSJ tournament in New Japan within a couple of months of his debut, the crowds adore him and he’s just a kid, at 23 years old.
People talked about the match happening, but nobody actually expected it. Rev Pro have outdone themselves with this one, and it’s going to be a lot of fun to watch.
