Well, looks like JJ and Smooge won’t be separated for long. The Boston Celtics picked up Moore with the 55th overall pick in the draft. Smooge will backup Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen in Boston if he makes the roster. The reason Moore had to wait this long is because he doesn’t have a true NBA position. Smooge is a tweener guard, not big enough to be a 2 and doesn’t run a team well enough to be a 1. He must either improve dramatically as a scorer or distributor to survive in the NBA. I think if Moore puts in the work, he can become a spot minute guy over his career. As much as I love his career at Purdue, I just don’t see him projecting to a prominent role. Moore is trapped in a bad height range, but Boston is a great place to grow. Smooge might make a D-league appearance whenever the season starts, but he still might get some minutes next year.
