After the Buffalo Bills drafted Clemson RB C.J. Spiller in last April’s draft, speculation has run rampant that Bills RB Marshawn Lynch was going to be traded. Lynch helped to fuel the speculation by avoiding team OTA’s and not speaking directly with Bills head coach Chan Gailey. Yesterday, the speculation of a possible departure from Buffalo reached a fever pitch when Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers was asked about the possibility of a trade from the Packers to bring Marshawn Lynch to Green Bay after running back Ryan Grant was deemed out for the season with a torn ligament in his ankle.
According to a Green Bay newspaper, Aaron Rodgers replied, “Bring him on”, said with a smile. That has to make Grant’s replacement, Brandon Jackson feel really great. The Bills have been curious about Lynch and his future. They have a logjam at the running back position with Fred Jackson currently sitting out with an injury.
However, Buffalo is steadfast and seemingly has no plans to move Lynch. According to their official website today, nothing has changed regarding the situation with Lynch and his involvement with the Buffalo Bills. Bills GM Buddy Nix told reporters, “Our intention is for Marshawn Lynch to be here”.
It’s a shame the Bills won’t move the troubled running back and get what they can get for him. The three headed Jackson, Lynch and Spiller running back set benefits no one and the Bills have needs they can address in the draft next season.
