3 NFL coaches already on the Hot Seat

As the young NFL season heads into week 3, there are 3 coaches which are sitting on the hot seat and if they lose again this week, that flame will be turned up just a bit higher. Cleveland Browns head coach Eric Mangini, Carolina Panthers head coach John Fox and Dallas Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips. Each one of these coaches have their team firmly in last place in their division and they all have serious issues with their teams.
Cleveland Browns Eric Mangini- The Cleveland Browns just lost two games that they should have won, but what else is new in Cleveland. The Browns offense is only averaging 14 points a game, they’ve already started two different quarterbacks in two games, they are committing too many turnovers and are flagged too much. With a brutal stretch of 8 games facing the Browns, they might go 0-10 before they record a win. How many more losses until the roar from the fans for Mike Holmgren to return to the sidelines?
Carolina Panthers John Fox- Eric Mangini can take comfort in the fact that the Carolina Panthers offense is worse than the Cleveland Browns. Last year’s starting quarterback Matt Moore looked as if he had potential but this season he has been horrible. Moore has been sacked 8 times, received a concussion and thrown 4 interceptions. Enter rookie QB Jimmy Clausen. With Cincinnati, New Orleans and Chicago looming on the horizon, it is going to be ugly early in Carolina. John Fox is playing without a contract for next season and could be gone by week 8.
Dallas Cowboys Wade Phillips- I have never been a fan of Wade Phillips. His playoff win last year might have bought Phillips some coaching captial, but that account is quickly running dry. The Cowboys are 0-2. Their offensive line is a mess, they are committing too many turnovers and penalties and here come the Houston Texans. If the Cowboys lose this week to their in-state rivals, and I think they will, Wade Phillips better not be buying any green bananas at the grocery store in Dallas. Owner Jerry Jones whose name is never mentioned with the word patience, might make a call to the bullpen and finally give Jason Garrett a try at the head coach position.
Waiting in the wings to be added to this list is San Francisco 49′ers head coach Mike Singletary. The Niners dropped a close one last night against the New Orleans Saints, but a start of 0-3 after next week, that heat Singletary is feeling isn’t an open can of Sterno on the breakfast buffet. The Niners have too much talent to start 0-3.
Is Phillips really a head coach…or a conduit for Jerry? Just once I would like some animation, some intensity…anything out of Phillips. Its OK when you are Tom Landry to be a stone face…because you know the big brain under that hat. Wade Phillips engenders no sense of command, no sense of insight and no sense of Landry.
Enough with Wade, remember becareful what you wish for….you get rid of wade and you get rid of the Defense….It is the offense that is giving us promblems…the fear of staying with the run….thats the fact that everytime ROMO changes the play it’s the same one..that’s the issue…PREDICTABLE
