Can the Chicago Bears start 10-0?

I will be the first to say that I am shocked at the Chicago Bears start this season, but after looking at their schedule, can the Chicago Bears start the season 10-0? It’s a possibility. I was only able to watch a portion of the Green Bay Packers-Chicago Bears game on Monday night, and while I won’t say that the Chicago Bears dominated the Green Bay Packers, after all the Packers committed 2 turnovers and an astounding 18 penalties, but they remain undefeated. Can the Bears continue on the path of the unbeaten teams? In the near team I think so. However, at some point, Jay Cutler will become Jay Cutler, the weak offensive line will be a weakness as well as the poor pass defense for the Bears. The Chicago Bears might just be able to overcome their weaknesses and get themselves to 10-0 in short order and lets look at how they might accomplish that.
In week 4, the Bears take on the New York Giants who have a slew of problems right now. Week 5, the Bears make a visit to play the Carolina Panthers, a team scoring 10 points a game offensively and starting a rookie quarterback. Week 6, Chicago hosts the Seattle Seahawks. A curious team which in this young season has yet to prove they can win on the road. Week 7, is a visit from the Washington Redskins. Unless the Redskins have traded for a playmaker at wide receiver, this game should be a win for the Bears.
The Bears rest in week 8. In week 9, the Chicago Bears head up to Buffalo to take on the Bills. Week 10 Chicago gets a visit from the Minnesota Vikings, and my belief is by week 10, Brett Favre will no longer be the quarterback of the Vikings.
So the Chicago Bears could be 9-0 heading into week 11 of the NFL season. Chicago Bears fans should know what happened the last time an undefeated Bears team went into Miami to play the Dolphins. Chicago was defeated on December 2nd 1985 on Monday Night Football, the only loss for the Bears in their championship season. Actually, the Miami Dolphins scored 38 points that night, the most any team had posted against the Bears in the entire season.
The Bears are a dichotomy right now. Their offense is 5th in overall passing but 29th running the ball. The Bears defense is 1st against the run and 28th against the pass. There will need to be a balance between the extremes on both sides of the ball in order for the club to become better balanced, but as I look at their schedule, this team might very well be 9-0 if they continue playing well and getting breaks heading into Miami for Thursday night game on November 11th. And wouldn’t that just be deja vu all over again…..
