What were the Green Bay Packers thinking?

The Green Bay Packers need a running back, despite all the denials Marshawn Lynch was available after all from the Buffalo Bills, so what exactly were the Green Bay Packers thinking by allowing the Seattle Seahawks to trade for Lynch?
Marshawn Lynch is more than a serviceable back and would have fit nicely into the Green Bay Packers offense. Lynch has rushed for 1,000 yards twice in his four year career. Green Bay utilizes a lot of passes to the running back position in their version of the West Coast Offense, and in 2008, Lynch recorded 47 receptions with a dismal Buffalo Bills team.
Seattle acquired Lynch for a 4th round pick in 2011 and a conditional pick in 2012. Evidently the Packers, according to reports made an offer for Marshawn Lynch to Buffalo but Seattle made a better one. A fourth round pick in 2011 and a conditional pick in 2012 seems reasonable enough, what did the Packers offer? A fifth round pick and a Starbucks gift card? Come on, this is a fourth year running back that has proven he can run and catch the ball yet they lose out to the Seattle Seahawks?
Are the Packers serious about wanting to win the NFC North? The Minnesota Vikings just got better today with the addition of Randy Moss. The last time I checked, the Chicago Bears were still in first place. And Brandon Jackson and John Kuhn were still the running backs in Green Bay.
I understand teams wanting to build their squads through the draft, but sometimes you just have to pull the trigger on a trade. Every draft pick is not a certainty, the draft is a crapshoot. Rarely, do all players a team drafts make the team. I don’t think that the Packers are going to get it done with Jackson and Kuhn at running back. Marshawn Lynch would have made a great fit for the Packers. But I guess now, Packers fans won’t have a chance to see just how great a fit he would have been.
