On Friday, New York Jets wide receiver and soon to be free agent Braylon Edwards pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated from an incident that took place last September, according to Jenny Vrentras of The Star-Ledger. On top of his participation in the league’s substance abuse program, Edwards will be fined $500 and have his license suspended for six months.
Back on September 21, Edwards was pulled over in Manhattan and had a blood-alcohol content of 0.16–which is twice the legal limit. Edwards will most likely face a fine from the NFL for this incident, but shouldn’t face suspension since he’s a first-time offender.
Once the lockout ends, Edwards is expected to be one of the top free agents when it comes to wideouts and has already indicated he would like to return to the Jets. Last season, Edwards caught 53 passes for 904 yards with seven touchdowns for the Jets.
