Report: Texans QB Matt Leinart Leaves Game Against Jaguars With Shoulder Injury
The Houston Texans already have to play the rest of the season without Matt Schaub and after Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars–there’s a chance they could be without their second option at quarterback after Matt Leinart suffered an injury.
Leinart was replaced by rookie T.J. Yates right before halftime after suffering a shoulder injury, but the extent of the injury is still unknown. Before the injury, Leinart had been performing pretty well considering it was his first start of the season–completing 10 of 13 passes for 57 yards with one touchdown.
Obviously, this would be even more devastating news for the Texans if they lose Leinart as well at quarterback. The former first-round pick seemed ready to shine after receiving another chance at the starting job–so it should be interesting to see how bad his diagnosis is.
Update: CBS Sports reports Leinart will not return to the game and the Texans will go with Yates for the rest of the game.
