Cleveland Browns Hire Brad Childress as Offensive Coordinator
Brad Childress has been out of the NFL since he was fired as head coach from the Minnesota Vikings in the middle of the 2010 season. Now, it looks like Childress will make his return for the 2012 season as a member of the Cleveland Browns.
According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com, the Browns have hired Childress as their new offensive coordinator with the intention of fixing an offense that ranked 29th overall in 2011 and broke the 20-point mark just twice all season. Childress was the offensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles from 2003-05 before taking over the head coaching job in Minnesota, but he was never responsible for calling the plays in Philadelphia as that responsibility was taken care of by Andy Reid.
Of course, the most important thing may be whether or not Childress can find a way to get the best out of Colt McCoy considering how much credit he received for developing Donovan McNabb during his time with the Eagles. Then again–it’s difficult not to wonder whether or not Childress will consider picking up Brett Favre at the airport again in an attempt to bring back the 42-yard-old former quarterback.
Obviously kidding.
