Sources: Jason Pierre-Paul to appear on TNT’s TNA Impact
According to sources, standout New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul is set to appear on an upcoming taping of TNT’s pro wrestling serial, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. Pierre-Paul will take part in a Monday taping of TNA Impact, set to air on Spike TV this coming Thursday evening at 9 pm CST.
Due to provisions in his contract with the Giants, Pierre-Paul is prohibited from scripted action which could lead to too much physical contact, but can participate in story lines on the broadcast. It appears he will have an in-ring confrontation with Kurt Angle, similar to what was performed last year between Angle and New York Jets star Bart Scott.
It’s an interested aside for football players to take part in pro wrestling broadcasts, after all, the physicality of the sport and the acting chops it takes to make it convincing are inherent in many pro athletes. Pierre-Paul has shown some great personality in interviews before and after Giants games, so it’s conceivable he would be a natural for televised wrestling.
Tom Coughlin and the Mara family, however, will be wringing their collective hands as the broadcast is taped to make sure no freak injuries occur in the process.
It’s a quick paycheck for pro players in an off-season where they should be allowed to have a little fun.
The grind of the season helps them earn it.
