Tim Tebow Delivering an Easter Sermon in Texas; Huge Crowd Expected
Christopher Hanewinckel-US PRESSWIRE

Tim Tebow is a popular dude. There is no denying that. The reason why he is so popular – or so polarizing depending how you view him – is because of his religious background. He always embraces his religious upbringing from Tebowing or spreading the Lord’s word through multiple outlets. So when Tim Tebow puts away the pads and pulls out the scripture, people want to listen. And according to the pastor of the Celebration Church in Texas, they expect over 30,000 people want to listen.

Joe Champion, the pastor of the church, had this to say about Tebow’s sermon.

“Obviously it’s our Super Bowl. Easter is the resurrection of Christ, which we celebrate in our faith. We feel like it’s going to be a testimony to the community. We want it to be a family event.”

I never thought of it that way. I guess Easter really is the Super Bowl for Christians, well maybe the Championship games with Christmas being the Super Bowl, but I digress.

Even though I have absolutely no religious tendencies whatsoever, I think it’s pretty cool for Tebow to be doing this. This is the equivalant of a major rock band that you love seeing playing in your backyard. I have to imagine it’s free to see the sermon – minus the offering plate and what not – so being able to see Tim Tebow’s faith in full display will be quite the spectacle.

Say what you will about Tim Tebow as a football player – but as a man – there is no one quite like him. I really don’t like Tebow all that much, considering all the coverage he gets for being an average quarterback. But it really hit me when my nephew talks about how much he likes Tim Tebow.

Tebow is the perfect role model. He isn’t going to wake up in a face full of coke, he isn’t going to crash a motorcycle with a girl half his age on the back of it, he isn’t going to do anything negative whatsoever. So why do I root against him again?

Oh ya, Skip Bayless.
