New Orleans Saints Guard Eric Olsen Shares A Junior Seau Story That ‘Changed Him Forever’
Kyle Terada-US PRESSWIRE

The late Junior Seau has touched so many people during his life. Therefore, his death yesterday, has shocked and saddened so many fans, players, family, and of course former teammates.

Well one of the players, that may have never been a teammate, decided to share a story of a lifetime about a one-time encounter he had with Junior.

Eric Olsen, an offensive guard for the New Orleans Saints, shared a beautiful story about a chance meeting with Seau in high school, and how the meeting changed his life forever.

Wow this is a tough one.. When I was a frosh in HS Junior Seau worked the Jay Fiedler Football camp and at the end of one of the days he challenged any1 to a 1 on 1. Being one of the ‘big’ kids, I was volunteered by my buddies and went up in front of the whole camp to face this monster of a man. Shaking in my cleats, he gave me a wink before a coach gave the cadence. He let me pancake him. And he sold it too. I can’t even tell you how good I felt at that moment; it changed me forever. The whole camp cheered for me, a chubby kid that didn’t know if he even liked football. From then on I was addicted. All thanks 2 this 10 time all-pro that felt like making some snot-nosed kid’s day. Doesn’t seem like much but it meant a lot to me. Sorry for the essay just had to share. RIP Junior I’ll never forget what you did for me.

It seems that this story may have changed the way that Olsen will look at meeting young players and fans.

I appreciate the love for that story from every1 I just hope my peers realize that even small things can make a big difference 4 someone.

That is a beautiful story and just a small taste of what Seau has done for so many including myself.

When I heard of his passing, I was just completely shocked. I am a big New England Patriots fan, so I will always remember watching him play. I went to a few games and I can tell you first hand, he was an amazing player. I will miss his enthusiasm about the game, and the way he played it. I wish I had the opportunity to meet him, but I hope whatever did happen, he never had pain and he is in a better place.

Rest In Peace Junior- A legend on the field and off.
