Miami Dolphins WR Chad Johnson: Lefty’s Bonehead Of The Week
Miami — Well that didn’t take long! The Chad Johnson experiment is over in Miami, the Dolphins have released the six-time Pro Bowl receiver one day after he was arrested on charges of simple domestic battery. I guess you can remove the Ochocinco but you can’t remove the idiocy.
Johnson’s wife had accused him of head-butting her during an argument in front of their home. Can you really blame the Miami Dolphins? How much should they have to take? Johnson had already been frequently annoying coach Joe Philbin by his constant use of profanity with reporters.
Apparently, Chad Johnson’s wife had confronted him about a receipt she had found for a box of condoms. Being the genius that Johnson’s is, he decided the best way to diffuse the situation would be to head-butt his wife (Allegedly)
Normal people don’t assault their wives during arguments, especially when they themselves are at fault. Chad Johnson could have avoided all of this by simply not cheating on his wife. Sadly, professional athletes seem to feel entitled to such behavior. If you can’t be faithful, don’t get married, it’s as easy as that.
Now Chad Johnson is out of work. The Miami Dolphins had been gracious enough to give the aging wide receiver one more shot. Although Chad Johnson hasn’t been known for huge off the field issues during his career, he has been a distraction on the field. That was fine back in his Cincinnati Bengals days but Johnson is simply not the player he once was.
It’s a shame that a talented player like Chad Johnson couldn’t emulate other great receivers such as Jerry Rice with the San Francisco 49ers, Tim Brown with the Oakland Raiders, or Cris Carter with the Minnesota Vikings. Johnson had the talent but has not had a Hall Of Fame career.
It appears to be all over for Chad Johnson this time but who knows, the Allen Wranglers of the Indoor Football League may just need another WR now that Terrell Owens is back in the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks.
Miami gave you a shot and you blew it because you couldn’t simply follow the same rules of society that everyone is subject to. For this reason you win a very special award. Congratulations Chad Johnson, you are Lefty’s “Bonehead of the week”
