Kris Dielman played his college career with the Indiana Hoosiers and came to the NFL as an undrafted player. Dielman was signed by the San Diego Chargers and spent nine seasons with them from 2003-2011.  He was a defensive tackle in college, but was changed to an offensive lineman by San Diego.  During his time with the Chargers, Dielman was a four time Pro Bowl left guard, a two time All-Pro and a member of the San Diego Chargers’ 50th Anniversary Team.  Dielman missed 10 games last season due to a concussion which happened in a game against the New York Jets, and he also suffered a seizure on the team plane.  Dielman would eventually retire in February of this year.

Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union Tribune reported that Dielman was considering a comeback on July 20, 2012. Acee would later say that Dielman un-retiring was a technicality.  Dielman was released from San Diego’s reserved-retired list on July 21, 2012 making him a free agent should he decide to make a comeback.  Although San Diego had offensive line problems when Dielman was healthy, his injury made things worse as Philip Rivers was sacked six times in a loss against the Oakland Raiders last season.

The Lightning Bolts solved most of their offensive line problems in their last five games after left tackle Jared Gaither was picked up off of waivers.  Rivers was sacked 28 times in the team’s first 11 games, but he was only sacked twice in their last five games.  If Dielman was to come back healthy, he would be a welcomed addition to any team in need of offensive line help.
