David Beckham is one of the biggest soccer names in history. It only makes sense that he would one day want to own a soccer club. That day seems to be approaching faster than we think, as it appears that Beckham and Alexi Lalas want to buy Malaga CF of La Liga.
This is not totally confirmed and it could probably fall apart. However, Malaga has some money issues and one of the things that Beckham has is money. He actually has lots of money. In fact, he could probably give me half of his money and still be fine.
I would actually be shocked if this is the team that Beckham and company go after. Beckham made a pretty penny coming stateside and playing in the MLS. If he were to buy a soccer team, you would think he would go after an MLS team. That would certainly draw some attention and cause a lot of headlines to be written.
I hate to say this, but I guess only time will tell how interested Beckham is in buying a club. It would be a good move for him and bringing a guy like Lalas in would probably help from the soccer side. Beckham would be the perfect business guy, as the man is smart with his money.
Since I am fairly awful at soccer knowledge, my guess is that it would take some time for this partnership to turn Malaga into a winner, but who knows? It would certainly be fun to follow.
