Luka Modric has been on the periphery of Real Madrid’s books since his big money move from Tottenham last summer. He’d impressed in the Premier League so much, that he became not only one of Spurs’ star players, but one of the best midfielders in the division.
Modric has many outstanding attributes, which the best midfielders require. A range of passing, exceptional movement and control and a good football brain. He expressed his love for Tottenham when he finally departed, and I’m sure the White Hart Lane faithful still love what Modric used to bring on the pitch.
He has had a resurgence in recent months. Modric looked to become an outcast in Spain, but shot his way back into Jose Mourinho’s plans after scoring a stunner against Manchester United, a goal which started Real Madrid’s revival in the game.
Tottenham should look to snap up Modric if he becomes available this summer. He’d fit right in, and seeing him play alongside Sandro and Mousa Dembele could turn Tottenham into genuine title contenders. Modric would add a great deal of composure and incision to Spurs, something they’ve lacked this season in his absence.
The official ‘partnership’ Tottenham have with Real Madrid may be nothing more than just a piece of paper. Many regard the pairing as simply a ploy for Gareth Bale to join the Spanish giants, we’ll have to wait and see with that. But if Luka is outbound, surely the partnership would mean something among the negotiations for his services.
