It’s been heavily reported recently that Andre Villas-Boas has emerged as the leading candidate for the soon-to-be available Paris Saint-Germain job.
PSG coach Carlo Ancelotti appears to be departing for Real Madrid, so the French side need a manager who can bring real prosperity to the big spending club. Another frequently reported element to the deal is Gareth Bale. The Welshman is apparently being targeted by PSG in order to convince AVB that a job in the French capital is his future.
Neither are going to be easy to get. However, PSG are one of those few clubs who can afford Gareth Bale and are rumored to be launching a record-breaking £85 million ($133 million) for his services.
But is PSG a suitable club for Bale? And AVB? They are two of the sport’s rising stars in their respective roles. PSG is an interesting project, but should Bale be spending some of the best years of his career there? He would immediately become PSG’s star man if he was there, despite the French side’s squad containing stellar names such as Lucas Moura, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The Welshman is also Real Madrid’s main target, and club representative Zinedine Zidane has done nothing to retract the links. AVB’s reputation was in tatters after he left Chelsea in a heap in 2012. However, he’s returned to the list of Europe’s most coveted managers after the strong job he’s done at Tottenham.
It would be very disloyal of AVB to leave, something he probably wouldn’t do unless it was a Real Madrid or Manchester United which came knocking.
The likelihood is that both men will remain with Tottenham for at least another season.
