Swiss international and Napoli player Gokhan Inler still has a few years in him to play at the high level of the Serie A in Italy. Be that as it may, interest in the defensive midfielder is not slowing down from Turkish champion and UCL quarter-finalist Galatasaray.
Born and raised in Switzerland to Turkish parents, Inler decided to allege himself to the country of his own birth. However, playing in the country of his parents’ births is not out of the question. Gala finished as champions for the past two seasons domestically and finished in the quarter-final stage last season against Real Madrid in the Champions League.
That run of form is not going to slow down any time soon as the lions of Istanbul will look to keep their main team intact and sign new talent — Inler heads that the list of desired aspiring additions.
He is 28-years old, strong, smart, defends, runs and even scores whenever he feels like sending a long-distance shot towards goal. He is not injury-prone as he barely ever misses a game for his club or country. His defensive midfield position is a lock on any team, so he would be an important addition to the club.
The reason why Gala are chasing his signature is due to the uncertainty of Felipe Melo’s departure. His club Juventus have been raising the price of his permanent signature during his two seasons on loan in Istanbul. If the teams can shake hands on a good fee for the player, he will stay as he has been a vital part of their overall success and is also a fan favorite.
If Melo stays, Inler does not join Gala. If he does, Gala will have two quality midfielders who can both hold the midfield and can also push up to assist the attack. Either way, Gala will be putting their trust in talented and proven players.
