All eyes were on the English Premier League this weekend as fixtures got underway.
There were not too many surprises this weekend as the big guns cruised to dominant victories. Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea all won decisively, City having the toughest test against Newcastle United. City dismantled Newcastle with relative ease; the gulf in class was evident as City made their counterparts look like a second-division side.

Jose Mourinho‘s return to the Premier League was the buzz of the weekend, as he extended his record to 61-0 at Stamford Bridge. Mourinho’s midfield looks like it could be the story of the season, as their creativity left spectators speechless.
David Moyes first game in charge at United was a success, as Wayne Rooney came on as a substitute contributing two assists, even though he looked as if he wished he were somewhere else. United also had bids rejected for Everton pair, Marouane Felliani and Leighton Baines, as Everton had higher valuations than United’s offers suggested.
Manuel Pellegrini’s debut was absolutely fantastic, as some of his new additions flourished in the side. Fernandinho and Jesus Navas were sensational for City in their debuts, as they made their presence felt on the pitch.
Arsene Wenger and Arsenal once again were huge disappointments at the Emirates this weekend. As Christian Benteke of Aston Villa terrorized the Arsenal defense, he put his talent on display for all the Gunners’ supporters to see what they lacked in a world-class striker. Wenger is searching for reinforcements, but had a bid recently rejected by Newcastle for Frenchman Yohan Cabaye. Arsenal looks to be in dire straits as world-class reinforcements are sorely needed.
Liverpool and Tottenham both had workman like performances that lead to victories, as they try to push for Champions League places this season. Both teams have had immense speculation about the transfers of their best players as Luis Suarez wants to leave Mersyside and Gareth Bale looks to exit White Hart Lane. Both sides are rumored to be vying for the signature of Brazilian International Willian from Anzhi Makhachkala. Whichever team lands the Brazilian’s signature will surely improve their chances going forward to compete against the powerhouse clubs in the EPL.
Soccer fans should look forward to some surprises in the upcoming schedule, as the fixtures will continue to get better and more competitive.
