Barcelona ran out 3-2 winners over Sevilla, who matched the Catalan side tit for tat throughout the match.
The home side had a 2-0 lead cancelled out as a late double was scored to level the match late on in the 90th minute. However, in the 94th, Lionel Messi went on yet another mesmerizing run to cross to a wide open Alexis Sanchez, who flurried it home.
With this win, Barca maintain their perfect start to the season with four wins out of four. They are level with Atletico Madrid on 12 points and as well on goal difference. Both have scored 14 times and have allowed 10 less than that.
Neymar, Messi and Gerard Pique all had decent games for Barca, but none were great for a majority of the time. They did, however, cause the opponents problems as they did end up being the difference both defensively as well as offensively.
The man of the match for Sevilla would have to be the scorer of the first goal, Ivan Rakitic, who normally plays as an attacking midfielder. But, he played a bit behind defensively to stop a countless number of attacks, held the ball up and distributed to his eager teammates. He was absolutely remarkable in a game that they were extremely unlucky to lose.
Former Barca defender Fernando Navarro headed a corner kick home when Barca were still only up 1-0, but the referee called it back due to a slight foul in the area. Any other ref would have let that count as absolutely nothing seemed to have happened.
Now, after that questionable loss to arguably the best team in the league, Sevilla can build on that amazing performance to upset or even deservedly defeat the upper teams if their starters play with the same fearless mentality.
