They sold Argentine starlet Erik Lamela to English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur and also sold Brazilian stalwart Marquinos to French side Paris Saint-German, much to the surprise of many Roma supporters.
To Roma’s credit, they have managed to keep their two most iconic players, World Cup champions Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi. Considering Roma hasn’t been a real factor in Serie A or the Champions League for quite some time, they look likely to turn that trend around this season.
Attackers Alessandro Florenzi and Adem Ljajic have been excellent so far this season, both in the top-10 in scoring in the Serie A. Roma’s newcomers have provided a tremendous spark this season as well, especially Ivorian International Gervinho. The former Arsenal and Lille man has revitalized his career with Roma and has scored three goals in the Serie A already this season.
Dutch International Kevin Strootman has also been an inspirational figure this season with the injury to U.S. international Michael Bradley. Strootman has been fantastic in the middle of the pitch. He is an all-around complete midfielder. Alongside De Rossi, they form one of the most formidable midfield tandems in the world.
Roma looks like legitimate contenders to win every trophy they are in contention for this season, and has yet to come across an obstacle they can’t hurdle this season.
