Real Madrid Boo-Boys Come To The Rescue
Karim Benzema and Iker Casillas save Real Madrid from blushes against Bulgarian champions Ludogorets Razgrad. In a game where the reigning UEFA Champions League champions looked impotent against the debutante, the two players under pressure by the fans rescued the Blancos.
San Casillas made three brilliant saves to keep the Spanish capital side in the game. The Real Madrid captain has been jeered by the Madridistas for their recent defensive woes. Casillas’ performance should reassure the Real Madrid faithful’s that their captain is more than capable of protecting the Madrid goal.
Benzema came on as a second-half substitute for the Vikingos. The Frenchman came on to make an instant impact for Real Madrid, as he came close to setting up Cristiano Ronaldo in the 68th minute. The former Lyon striker finally settled the nerves of the Real Madrid fans by scoring the winning goal in the 77th minute.
The Real Madrid striker has been a target of boos from the Santiago Bernabeu supporters this season. Benzema finally scored his third goal of the season after 10 appearances. Fans had become impatient with the Frenchman’s lack of potency in front of goal. However, it is clear as day that Real Madrid perform better when Benzema is on the pitch, whether he scores or not.
The Real Madrid duo deserve the support of the Madridista. Benzema and Casillas are two of the Merengues most important players, and should be treated as such.
The game was stuck at 1-1, with Ludogorets looking like they had robbed the champions of two points. The Bulgarian side took the lead in the 6th minute and continued to attack the Madrid goal, effectively taking the game to their more illustrious opponents.
