Besiktas‘s new trio, Daniel Opare, Alexander Milosevic and Tolgay Arslan, all started and finished in their debut match in the Turkish Cup against Sariyer.
Arslan scored a beautiful goal while also showing his abilities from his defensive-midfield position moving forward on and off the ball. He is the trio’s highlight and will be a consistency moving forward for the remainder of this season. At the age of 24, he only has room for improvement after his arrival from the Bundesliga‘s Hamburger SV.
Milosevic at 22 is already showing promise of one who will be a stalwart in the center-back position for both club and country (Sweden) one day in the future. He is tall, strong, mobile and very good at defending both on the ground and in the air.Milosevic held firm throughout the 90 except for a few minor errors that amounted to nothing dangerous for the hosts.
Opare is match-fit, but his hunger was not there offensively, as right backs tend to move up and down throughout the match to help both on sides of the ball. He is staying in Istanbul for the next six months on loan from FC Porto; if he wants to stay permanently, he will have to be a bit more active on and off the ball as he seemed to struggle down the right with or without possession. It was his first game, but first impressions matter.
Coach Slaven Bilic truly signed exciting players that will make the difference time and time again moving forward. He has a roster that is good enough to field two teams that could compete with the best in the Super Lig. Once he figures out the best XI for each competition, he could end up with three titles in the league, Turkish Cup and even the Europa League.
