5. Manchester City Have Learned to Play Defense Without Vincent Kompany

City dominated Crystal Palace this weekend on both sides of the ball. The 4-0 victory was the third clean sheet in the last four matches for City. That is a big turnaround for a team that looked disjointed when Vincent Kompany went down with an injury.

4. Chelsea Have Luck on Their Side

Chelsea gave up a goal at the start of stoppage time, but still managed to earn a point. John Terry found the equalizer 52 seconds after the minimum amount of stoppage time and scored from an offside position. Luck was needed for the point, but Chelsea will take it. It was an unfortunate ending for anyone who wants to see good officiating. Chelsea players will probably just say that those are the breaks.

3. Newcastle Have Cause for Optimism

Newcastle moved out of the relegation zone and new signing Jonjo Shelvey was slinging great passes all over the pitch. There were still some moments of hesitation, but the team looked better going forward. Newcastle must still battle the rest of the way, but their most recent performance should give them some confidence.

2. Jan Kirchhoff is Not Match-Ready

Kirchhoff just arrived at Sunderland from Bayern Munich. He did not see much action for Bayern and it showed in his debut on Saturday. He played 31 minutes and the team conceded two goals. Kirchhoff was rightly called for a foul in the box and had a ball deflect off of him into the net. Tottenham walked away with the victory, and it could not have been much worse for Kirchhoff.

1. Liverpool Are Still A Mystery

Liverpool have conceded more goals from corner kicks than any other team in the Premier League. A corner kick was their undoing on Sunday as four defenders converged on the first ball to leave Wayne Rooney wide open to convert on the loose ball. Liverpool dominated for the majority of the match. They had the better chances, yet one defensive mistake was all it took for Liverpool to miss out on the points.
