Who are the players to watch, AC Milan vs. Juventus?
AC Milan vs. Juventus: Star Players to Watch
With two Italian giants, AC Milan vs. Juventus, up against each other this weekend, we take a look at who could be the deciding players to win their team the game.
Rafael Leão (AC Milan)
After a slow start to the season, Rafael Leão has been in some of the best form he has for a long time. With all his ability, Leão has needed to apply himself better and now under new manager Paulo Fonseca he’s in a better environment to do so.
Leão scored in Portugal’s recent 5-1 win against Poland and for Milan has 3 goals and 4 assists in 10 league games. Against Real Madrid he was one of Milan’s best players and gave Madrid so many problems. In Milan’s most recent game against Cagliari, Leão scored 2 as they drew the game 3-3.
Rafael Leão is deadly on transitions and the type of profile which suits big games like this. Juventus will need to keep him quiet if they want to get a win here.
Kenan Yıldız (Juventus)
Another player who stepped up in a big game for their club is Kenan Yıldız. The Turkish international scored 2 goals when coming off the bench against Juve’s rivals Inter Milan in an eventful 4-4 draw.
Yıldız has played in a variety of positions in the past but this season has shifted out to the left wing where he rotates with the #10. In these areas he’ll come inside onto his stronger right foot to shoot from distance, drive down the line, run in behind the defence and link-up with other attackers.
Yıldız is a deadly finisher and often only needs one chance to score. If the ball falls to him in and around the box, there’s a high chance there will be a goal.
Tijjani Reijnders (AC Milan)
In summer 2023, Milan signed Tijjani Reijnders for €20.5 million amongst several other transfers. Many other transfers grabbed the headlines, but Reijnders has since become one of Milan’s best players and one of the best midfielders in the world this season.
The all-phase midfielder is so elegant on the ball and just glides around the pitch. He effortlessly turns and carries the ball with so much agility. This just makes him so press resistant and comfortable being the first receiver in build-up.
Reijnders reads the game well. His intelligence helps him both on and off the ball. On the ball, another way he can hurt teams is by his shooting from distance.
Dušan Vlahović (Juventus)
For Juventus to get a needed result, they’ll need their main man up top Vlahović to be at his best. The Serbian striker has had a mixed start to the season with 3 goals and an assist in 4 Champions League games and 6 goals in 12 Serie A games.
Vlahović is at his best when the ball is played in behind the defence to him. On his left foot, he can generate so much power on shots. He’s a high shot volume striker and if he can get plenty off against Milan, he could get himself on the scoresheet and be the match-winning hero.
