Jake Locker was nothing but solid for the Tennessee Titans in the first three quarters of play tonight against the Arizona Cardinals. He was able to hook up with Nate Washington and rookie Kendall Wright for 12 points on the board. Locker went 11-for-20 for 134 yards, with the two touchdowns and a 109.2 passer rating. He didn’t throw a single pick.
Rob Bironas was pretty consistent also with his kicks, missing only one extra point in the second half.
Two big injuries occurred during the game, the first came almost right away in the first quarter. After running back the starting kickoff for a 29 yard return, wide receiver Marc Mariani suffered a broken leg of which he would need to be carted off the field. He had surgery on it during the second half of the game according to ESPN’s Rachel Nichols.
Heading into the third quarter the Titans led 10-7. The Cardinals scored a touchdown seconds before halftime.
Matt Hasselbeck entered the game at the beginning of the fourth quarter. And it wasn’t that he looked less prepared, but he looked just like a back-up quarterback. It seemed as though the momentum shifted in the Cardinals’ favor when the switch was made, as the Cardinals were able to grab two touchdowns in the fourth. Luckily the Titans were able to grab one more touchdown in the fourth and a field goal after numerous flags from the replacement refs.
The final score in the week three preseason game was Tennessee Titans 31- Arizona Cardinals 27, not to far off from my prediction of 27-20 earlier today.
