Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre has been awarded his third career Gold Glove award. In 2011, Beltre led all third basemen in the American League with 17 defensive runs saved, leading to his Gold Glove award.

“It means a lot,” Beltre said. “To be chosen as one of the best in the league defensively is a nice accomplishment. It’s part of the game I take a lot of pride in.”

Beltre is the first Ranger to win a Gold Glove since Michael Young earned the honor at shortstop in 2008. In just his first season in Texas, Beltre is also only the second player to win a Gold Glove playing for Rangers manager Ron Washington.

Beltre was like a brick wall at third base for the Rangers this season, a huge contributor to the team’s second consecutive World Series trip. After signing a five-year deal prior to the 2011 season, Beltre will be a Ranger for at least four more seasons.
