Josh Hamilton Crushes Four Home Runs vs. Baltimore Orioles
We have all known for awhile that Texas Rangers‘ slugger Josh Hamilton is incredibly impressive behind the plate. He proved it once again tonight as his Rangers took on the Baltimore Orioles in an American League match-up.
Hamilton, who recently returned from a 3-game absence due to back spasms, knocked in four home runs tonight in the Rangers 10-3 victory over the Orioles.
Oh yeah, he even threw in a double, going a perfect 5-for-5 on the night.
After his fourth home-run of the evening, even the Baltimore fans showed their respect for him, giving him a standing ovation as he rounded the bases.
Four home runs ties an MLB record. Hamilton becomes the 16th player in Major League history to accomplish the feat, joining storied players such as Lou Gehrig and Willie Mays in the record books.
Heading into this evening’s game, Hamilton was batting an incredibly impressive .406 for the year with a major league-leading 14 home runs and 36 RBI.
He has hit 5 home runs in his last 6 at-bats.
It’s no secret that Hamilton has more than his share of personal demons off the field. After a rough season in which his Rangers lost their second straight World Series in a heart-breaking fashion and after a father fell to his death attempting to catch a ball which Hamilton tossed into the crowd, rumors surfaced over the off-season that he had a relapse.
Though Hamilton quickly owned up to his mistakes and publicly apologized, questions have been raised as to whether or not his off-the-field battle will have too great of an impact on his game.
Needless to say, Hamilton is making quite a case for himself on the field this season.
