Sean Payton believed the New Orleans Saints had one of the biggest steals of the 2010 NFL Draft when they selected Jimmy Graham in the third round and if his first two seasons in the NFL are any indication of what to expect–he may be right. With the fantasy football 2012 season right around the corner, Graham has emerged into one of the league’s top pass-catching tight ends–which is why he sits at No. 2 on this list.
Last season, Graham recorded 99 catches for 1,310 yards to go along with 11 touchdowns as the Saints finished as one of the top teams in the NFC and reached the second round of the playoffs. Not only did Graham find the end zone in five-straight games (including playoffs) at the end of the season, but he recorded touchdowns in eight of 11 games dating back to the end of October–which is impressive for a tight end.
At the rate he’s going, Graham has the potential to match last year’s numbers in 2012, but it certainly won’t be easy considering the type of offseason the Saints have dealt with due to the Bounty Gate scandal. Then again, any tight end that has Drew Brees throwing them the ball will always have the potential to post big numbers on a weekly basis.
In other words–fantasy owners would be wise to select Graham if he’s available in the second or third round to gain an advantage on their opponents considering how difficult it can be to find a consistent pass-catching tight end in the NFL.
