2012 Fantasy Football Sleepers: Detroit Lions WR Titus Young
Detroit Lions‘ wide receiver Titus Young was an inconsistent performer last season. He finished with 607 receiving yards and six touchdowns, which is certainly respectable for a rookie. That ranked him seventh in yards and fourth in touchdown among other rookie wide outs but expectations were certainly higher for the Boise State standout.
Look for those numbers to improve in 2012 as Young looks to be an integral part in one of the best offenses in the NFL, and he should definitely be on everyone’s radar as one of the 2012 Fantasy Football Sleepers. Keep an eye on him if he’s still on your draft board in the later rounds because it could definitely pay off.
Why? Well first off, Matthew Stafford is under center in the Motor City and he happened to lead Detroit to nearly 30 points and 300 yards passing per game.
Young was the No. 3 wide receiver last year, but they drafted him to be a No. 2 opposite of Calvin Johnson and he could see himself slip into that role in 2012.
Nate Burleson has stepped up to take the role of mentor for Young, which can only help the young receiver both on and off the field.
Titus Young has been a bit of a problem child early on in his career, but he has the ability to become a problem to NFL secondaries if he continues to refine his route running and separation techniques.
Speaking of NFL secondaries, Young plays in the NFC North, which featured three of the weakest secondaries in the league a year ago. How that translates over to this year remains to be seen. We do know that the opportunity will be there for Titus Young to have a breakout year for the Detroit Lions so put him on your fantasy radar.
