Here’s a look at the top stories for the morning of Aug. 29, 2012 in Rant Recap.
Three Men Arrested in Montee Ball Case
Wisconsin Badgers fans received a bit of a scare at the beginning of August when Ball suffered a concussion after he was attacked by several men near campus. While the injury will have no impact on his 2012 season, Ball will be relieved to know that three men were arrested on Tuesday for their involvement on the incident.
Ball is arguably the best running back in college football after rushing for 1,933 yards and 33 touchdowns during the 2011 season and expectations are high once again for the Heisman candidate heading into the upcoming season.
Stephen Strasburg Suffers Painful Loss
The Washington Nationals have been under the microscope over the last couple of weeks as they face the tough decision on whether or not to shut Strasburg down for the remainder of the season. After going 4-0 with a 1.50 ERA in August, Strasburg suffered the worst loss of the season on Tuesday after allowing seven runs (career high) in five innings to the Miami Marlins.
Matt Kemp Suffers Injury
The Los Angeles Dodgers completed one of the biggest trades in MLB history last weekend, but they got a scare on Tuesday night when Kemp was forced to leave the game with a knee injury. Kemp injured his knee after running into the wall while trying to make a catch in the outfield during the first inning of Tuesday’s game against the Colorado Rockies and left the game a few innings later when aggravating it again while attempting a diving catch.
Hopefully, this is just a minor injury, but it’s certainly something the Dodgers don’t want to deal with as they trail the San Francisco Giants by 3.5 games in the division.
