Pittsburgh Panthers meet Cincinnati Bearscats For One Last Time In Big East

It may not be as popular of some of the other matchups, but Cincinnati and Pittsburgh have always had one of the top rivalries in college football and will meet for one last time as members of the Big East on Thursday night. Both teams seem capable of winning the conference in 2012, but this game may be more important for Pittsburgh after suffering a devastating loss last weekend against Youngstown State.

Plus, the last thing the Panthers want to deal with is heading into Week 3 0-2 on the year when they’re getting ready to square off against a very talented Virginia Tech squad. Unfortunately for them, Cincinnati has won three of the last four games in this rivalry–so it should be interesting to see how things play out on Thursday night.

Baltimore Orioles Ready For Key Series Against New York Yankees

Back in the middle of July, nobody would have predicted the Orioles to be one game back of the Yankees for first place in the AL East–but that’s exactly the case heading into Thursday night. After holding a 10-game lead in the division back on July 18, New York’s lead is down to a single game as they open up a key four-game series against Baltimore that will play a huge factor in the AL East standings.

While the Orioles have emerged into one of the hottest teams in baseball since the All Star Break, the Yankees are on the verge of one of the biggest collapses in MLB history as they hope to turn things around over the final few weeks of the regular season. Luckily for Baltimore, they’ve won seven of their last 10 games against their division rivals.
