Here’s a look at three 2012 Fantasy Football Sleepers to consider in Week 1.
3. Carolina Panthers Running Back DeAngelo Williams
After Jonathan Stewart missed three-straight practices last week, all signs point to him missing the opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. If that does happen to be the case Williams will receive a majority of carries for the offense.
It’s hard to consider Williams a sleeper considering he was a top-10 running back a few years ago, but the former Memphis star has seen his numbers decline over the last two years.
2. Washington Redskins Wide Receiver Pierre Garcon
It should be interesting to see what type of numbers can produce now that he’s the No. 1 wide receiver for the Redskins, but if the preseason is any indication of what to expect–it should be extremely beneficial for fantasy owners. Garcon and Robert Griffin III established chemistry early on in the preseason and a favorable matchup against the New Orleans Saints could mean big numbers in his regular season debut with Washington.
1. Jacksonville Jaguars Wide Receiver Justin Blackmon
Despite dealing with an ankle injury this week, Blackmon has a favorable matchup against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1 and could be in for big numbers–especially considering the low number of targets Blaine Gabbert will have in the passing game. There was a reason why the Jaguars were willing to move up in the draft to select Blackmon and the potential is certainly there for the former Oklahoma State star to record 100+ receiving yards in his NFL debut.
