Rant and Rise: Baltimore Orioles Back In First, Harvard Basketball Scandal, Jonathan Vilma Willing to Meet With Roger Goodell

Baltimore Orioles Win Big, Move Back Into First With New York Yankees

The Orioles have been one of the hottest teams in baseball since the All Star Break and on Tuesday, they came through again with a big 9-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays to move back into first place in the AL East with the New York Yankees. J.J. Hardy led the way for Baltimore by going 4 of 5 from the plate with two home runs and five RBIs.

Harvard Most Likely Losing Co-captains Kyle Casey and Brandyn Curry Due to Scandal

One of the biggest surprises in the sports world this week involves the Harvard basketball academic scandal and the impact it will have on the 2012-13 season. Co-captains Kyle Casey and Brandyn Curry are expected to withdrawal for the upcoming season for their involvement in this cheating scandal that involves 125 students.

Harvard was considered one of the favorites to win the Ivy League this season–but that will most likely change now that they’ll be playing without two of their star players.

Jonathan Vilma Willing to Meet With Roger Goodell

Last week, the four players that were suspended for their involvement in the New Orleans Saints bounty case won their appeal against the NFL–which means they were all eligible to play in Week 1. Now, it appears Vilma is willing to meet with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell–which comes as a big surprise considering the history between the two individuals.

Unfortunately for the Saints, they will still have to wait a few more weeks before Vilma returns to the field after he was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list to start the season.
