Rant and Rise: Eli Manning Throws For 510 Yards, 49ers Win Again, Alabama and LSU Back On Top

Here’s the latest edition of Rant and Rise for September 17, 2012.

Eli Manning Breaks 500-Yard Mark

There’s something about the New York Giants being down in the fourth quarter that Manning loves to be a part of after leading his team to a miraculous comeback in Week 2 following their 41-34 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Giants scored 25 points in the fourth quarter and Manning finished the game with 510 passing yards (eighth most in NFL history) to go along with three touchdowns.

Manning’s three first-half interceptions were a reason to be concerned at first, but he sure made up for it in the second half with that type of performance.

San Francisco 49ers Impress Again

After back-to-back win over the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions, it may be safe to say the 49ers are the team to beat in the NFC after an impressive win on Sunday night. San Francisco’s defense limited Matthew Stafford to just 230 yards passing with one touchdown and one interception–which is impressive for a quarterback that broke the 500-yard mark in 2011.

Alabama Crimson Tide and LSU Tigers Back On Top of AP Top 25 Poll

This sounds all too familiar–Alabama and LSU are back on top of the Ap Top 25 Poll standings after another crazy weekend in college football. Thanks to the Stanford Cardinal pulling off the upset over the USC Trojans, LSU was able to jump up to No. 2 in the rankings–which means the matchup between these two SEC rivals on November 3 could be even more interesting to watch.
