It’s been a long week for Josh Morgan of the Washington Redskins after the wide receiver is taking most of the blame for the team’s heartbreaking loss to the St. Louis Rams in Week 2. Morgan caught a seven-yard pass late in the fourth quarter that would have set the team up in the perfect position to kick the game-tying field goal, but he was called for a 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalty after he threw the ball at Rams’ cornerback Cortland Finnegan–who appeared to give him a little “shove” when the play was first over.
Thanks to the penalty, Washington was forced to attempt the field goal from 62 yards away and now–Morgan is apparently receiving death threats on Twitter for his actions that impacted the team’s chances of taking Sunday’s game into overtime.
It’s understandable for fans to feel frustrated about their favorite team losing, but to threaten someone’s life over it? That’s nothing short of ridiculous.
Morgan is already having enough trouble dealing with his actions costing Washington another chance to tie the game up against St. Louis and this is the last thing he needs to have on his mind heading into Week 3. People learn from their mistakes and Morgan is human just like anyone else–so it’s a shame to see fans stooping to this level by reaching out to him on Twitter and threatening his life.
Luckily, Morgan isn’t letting these threats get the best of him as the team prepares for their Week 3 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals.
