Michael Jordan is Not to Blame for Mike Dunlap’s Early Firing by Charlotte Bobcats

It’s really hard to say it but at first glance, Michael Jordan seems to be the problem in Charlotte, especially after coach Mike Dunlap was canned after just one miserable season.

However, Charlotte Bobcats president Rod Higgins and general manager Rich Cho reportedly were the ones who asked Jordan for a coaching change. Higgins says the players wanted Dunlap gone. So is this a case of a bad coach or a bunch of success-starved players looking for someone to blame but themselves?

Knowing Jordan, no one would be able to blame someone else for their failures in his organization, at least not the Jordan from the 90s Chicago Bulls dynasty.

Of course, it’s not like Dunlap did anything to deserve an extra year, either. The Bobcats finished 21-61, just one game above the Orlando Magic, who completed the 2012-13 NBA season with the league’s worst record. Still, one year is a little much, especially if the players are just looking for someone to blame for their failures. The Bobcats don’t exactly have the most talented roster in the league, but Dunlap probably should have gotten at least one more year to see if he could turn things around. Oh well, on to the next one. Right, Mike?
