With the third pick of the 2013 NBA Draft, the Washington Wizards select Otto Porter Jr.
Age: 20
Height: 6-foot-8
Position: Small Forward
School/Country: Georgetown
About the Prospect: There may not be any safer pick in this year’s draft than Georgetown sophomore small forward, Otto Porter Jr. Given his size and position, Porter has the ability to impact the game in a number of ways. He can score both off the dribble and off the catch, and his skill set features a variety of tools in which he can score from the perimeter and use his size and length to put the ball on the deck and attack the rim. With Porter Jr., you know what you will get, a solid NBA contributor who can be a reliable perimeter player for a number of years.
About His Impact on Team:
The Wizards have seemed like a team in progress for the last couple of years, but there’s no reason why Porter shouldn’t be able to make an immediate impact as a rookie during the 2013-14 season. Porter is a player with great size and huge potential after the type of impact he made at Georgetown–so this was a solid pick for Washington at No. 3.
Plus, playing alongside John Wall will certainly make life easier for Porter during his rookie season.
