2013 Fantasy Football Profile: Jake Locker Ready For Gigantic Third Season?

Name: Jake Locker

Team: Tennessee Titans

Position: Quarterback

Years Pro: 2

Draft stock: (Stagnant) Anyone who has followed the NFL for the last three seasons knows how injury prone Locker has been throughout his two-year career. In fact, the Titans’ quarterback only has 16 professional games under his belt despite being on the Tennessee roster since 2011! Due to Locker’s inconsistent ways, many fantasy football owners are looking in the other direction for back-up quarterbacks.

2012 fantasy impact: Locker only played in 11 games last season, but he did throw for 10 touchdowns and 291 rushing yards which was a major upgrade from his rookie season. Tennessee was sub-par and it was largely due to its inability to win the turnover battle — Locker threw 11 interceptions last season which isn’t what you want in a back-up fantasy quarterback.

Best-case scenario: Titans fans finally see why Locker was taken with the eight overall pick as No. 10 finally stays healthy for an entire season and tosses more than 20 touchdowns in a breakout campaign with a few rushing touchdowns to boot.

Worst-case scenario: Once again, Locker misses multiple games and isn’t able to give the Titans anything underneath center. It’s time for Tennessee to move on and Locker’s once-promising career as a starter is all but over.

Where you should draft him: If you want consistency then don’t draft Locker to be your second-string quarterback. The only upside in Locker’s game is his ability to take off with a rushing touchdown here and there, so the 15th round is a perfect spot for this Titan.
