Name: Isaiah Pead
Team: St. Louis Rams
Position: Running Back
Years Pro: 1
Draft stock: (Stagnant) Pead’s one-game suspension has a handful of fantasy football owners upset, but it’s Pead’s potential that definitely has NFL pundits drooling. In fact, Rams head coach Jeff Fisher has stuck by Pead’s side this entire offseason because of the second-year back’s uncanny play-making ability.
2012 fantasy impact: It was difficult for anyone in St. Louis to get carries last season as Steven Jackson‘s farewell tour got in the way of Pead’s production. On just 10 carries, Pead finished his rookie campaign with 54 yards on the ground and another 16 through the air.
Best-case scenario: A one-game break doesn’t harm Pead’s stock in Fisher’s eyes and the Rams devote a bulk of the offense to the second-year star. Don’t look now, but Jackson has been easily replaced by one of the games budding young studs.
Worst-case scenario: Daryl Richardson takes advantage of a head-start at the Rams’ open running back gig and Pead is a forgotten man for the second straight season.
Where you should draft him: Due to the constant positive reviews surrounding Pead, someone in your league is going to draft him prior to the 14th round. However, you need to ask yourself whether or not you trust the array of running backs in St. Louis enough to have Pead on your bench?
