I have no idea why any fantasy football owner would ever start Blaine Gabbert, or even keep him on the roster, but if you’re in that bizarre predicament, you should know the Jacksonville Jaguars‘ woeful quarterback will not play in the team’s Week 2 contest against Oakland Raiders. If there was ever a game that Gabbert might be an extremely deep sleeper, it would be against Oakland, but he’ll miss the game with a “severe” laceration on his throwing hand.
That’s the Jaguars’ luck: they couldn’t muster a single point on offense in their Week 1 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs and now they get arguably the worst defense in the league and their shaky signal-caller will miss the contest. As a few other football minds have already stated, we thought we’d see Chad Henne this year, just not this soon.
Please don’t get excited about a waiver wire pickup, though; Henne certainly isn’t worth a roster spot, even for this lone start with a superb matchup. Seriously, no matter how bad you’re hurting at QB, don’t pick up Henne and you might as well drop Gabbert while you’re at it if you have him. Why would anyone have Gabbert on their fantasy team?
