I’ll speak for all who doubted what Chip Kelly could accomplish with the Philadelphia Eagles‘ offense when I say: whoa! We knew the Eagles were going to be better while running Kelly’s super-fast offense, but we didn’t know they were going to party like it’s 2003!
Michael Vick was by far the greatest beneficiary of Kelly’s new scheme on Monday night when he tallied 257 total yards and three touchdowns while leading Philly to a 33-27 win over Robert Griffin III‘s heavily favored Washington Redskins. While Vick wasn’t the video game character we saw against Washington in 2010, he showed that he can succeed in this, his last chance to earn an extended tenure in the NFL.
Now keep in mind, the Redskins’ defense gave up the 8th-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks in 2012, so this was a nice way for Vick to ease into the season. But if fantasy owners were plagued by the low scoring totals from Ben Roethlisberger, Cam Newton or Josh Freeman in Week 1, Vick is a great trade target at this point. And for those of you who already have Vick on your team, sell high because you might just set yourself up for a championship run with the return you’ll get.
