Typically, most people learn from their mistakes. San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith obviously isn’t like most people, though.
On Friday morning, Smith was arrested in San Jose on suspicion of DUI after being involved in a one-car accident. No one was injured as a result of the accident, and after police arrived on the scene, Smith blew a .15 on his breathalyzer test.
After searching his car, it was also discovered that Smith was in possession of marijuana – the amount is currently unknown. Although it’s not a huge infraction in this day and age, it’s just another charge to tack onto his growing list of missteps over the last couple of years.
Smith was arrested in January 2012 in Miami for the first of his DUIs. He was also recently named in a shooting that took place in Santa Clara back in June 2012. A lawsuit was filed from a victim who was allegedly shot by either Smith or Delanie Walker, who were hosting the party. Both hosts reportedly began firing handguns into the air in an effort to get party-goers to depart, and eventually turned their weapons towards attendees.
Once considered one of the top up-and-comers in the NFL, Smith has taken a recent step in the wrong direction. His latest run-in with the law could lead to a suspension, and might put him in jeopardy of missing Sunday’s showdown with the Indianapolis Colts.
Just another prime example of elite talent being flushed down the toilet.
