Remember when Derrick Rose was tearing up the NBA preseason while looking just as dominant — if not more dominant — than ever? Yeah, it’s hard to remember that after his lackluster performances in his first two games back from an ACL tear. Sure, he hit the game-winner with five seconds to play against the New York Knicks, but he was off for most of the game just one night after getting absolutely shut down by the Heat. It’s not time to hit the panic button yet, but this dude ain’t better yet.
Yes, I’m aware that Rose added five inches to his vertical leap during his ridiculously-long rehab and I’m also aware of how well he played during the preseason. But I also know that recovery from something like an ACL tear is just as much mental as it is physical and I’m here to tell you this guy is not the same silent assassin he was before the injury.

Now to be clear, that could easily change as he gets more and more games under his belt right now, I’d be a little worried if I was a Chicago Bulls fan. We’ll revisit this in a few weeks and see how you guys feel then.
