The Cincinnati Bengals saw their five-game winning streak come to a screeching halt at the hands of the Miami Dolphins. However, injuries made the Bengals’ Week 9 loss more devastating than just an ordinary L.
Geno Atkins was carted off of the field during Thursday night’s game with a knee injury and the reports say that the All-Pro defensive tackle has torn his ACL. This is a crushing blow considering Atkins had been proclaimed as the leader of this defense and arguably the best at his position in the entire NFL. Without Atkins, the Bengals’ highly-revered defensive group is likely to take a dive.

On a more positive note, Cincy running back Giovani Bernard absolutely dazzled on national television with two touchdowns and over 100 yards from scrimmage. Look for this Bengals’ rookie to continue dominating in his first year as he keeps reminding me of a young Ray Rice. Similar to the Baltimore Ravens‘ All-Pro, Bernard can make would-be tacklers miss and has an absolute nose for the end-zone.
