When Will Muschamp was hired as the Florida Gators‘ head football coach in December of 2011, the expectation was that Muschamp would soon fill the massive shoes of Urban Meyer with few problems if any. Well, here we are in November of 2013 and it’s obvious that Muschamp isn’t exactly Meyer 2.0. Instead, Florida sits in the cellar of the SEC East with an overall record of 4-5 after 11 weeks of play.
Florida was supposed to rebound against the Vanderbilt Commodores on Saturday, but that didn’t happen. In fact, thanks to three touchdowns from Vandy running back Jerron Seymour, the Commodores left Gainesville with a victory for the first time since 1945! On top of that, Saturday’s win marks the first time in 25 years that Vanderbilt has topped Florida.
Needless to say, the Muschamp doubters are having a field day. To be fair; Muschamp’s roster has been devastated by injury all season long. However, college football is not a fair industry and with games against the South Carolina Gamecocks and Florida State Seminoles still on the Gators’ schedule; Muschamp should be sharpening up his resume in preparation for this offseason.
