Position-by-position, players have begun filing into Lucas Oil Stadium for the 2012 NFL Combine. Thursday, Offensive Linemen and Tight Ends weighed in and met with the media, including Stanford’s tight end, Coby Fleener.

Obviously, Fleener had the luxury of Andrew Luck feeding him the football at Stanford, however he’s a great prospect and will make a tremendous addition to an NFL franchise.

Coby Fleener weighed in at 6ft 6, 247, and is known for his surprising speed and athleticism. Fleener will not run at the combine due to an ankle injury suffered in the Fiesta Bowl, but will bench press and interview. Teams would like to know Fleener’s actual foot speed, and he’ll have a chance to display that during Stanford’s pro day, March 22nd.

During Thursday’s media session, Coby shared an interesting tidbit on the decision his parents made to give him the name “Jacoby.”

Michelle Fleener (Coby’s mom) was watching a Redskins game, and noticed the name Jacoby on the back of Washington’s Tackle, Joe Jacoby. She decided to ask her husband about naming their son after the Redskins “Hog,” and he rejected… that is until she was in labor. Bill Fleener didn’t have the heart to tell her no, hence the name, Jacoby Fleener.

Though Washington may not target a Tight End early in the draft, its pretty cool to know a Redskins player will always be tied to Coby Fleener’s name.
